Planning Phase

Step One: Concept Proposal

Visit with an experienced designer to determine initial ideas, provide advice, and answer any questions about prices.
Conduct a site visit with a custom home consultant and a detailed designer builds an initial concept plan, clarifying any design ideas to match the land and budget.
Throughout the process, a LaFollette Custom Homes employee will support you providing feedback and suggestions from a professional and practical builder’s perspective. You can make unlimited changes to your plan until you are happy.
Upon completion of the concept plan, a more accurate cost projection will be evaluated.
After final creation of the design plan, you can view your unique custom-designed home through VR technology before it is built.

Step Two: Virtual Walkthrough

Our in-house draftsman works with your custom home consultant to create a 3D model of the exterior elevations and base floor plan.
Our team collaborates to refine the plan, giving special attention to your selections, finishes and furnishings.
Once the VR walk-through is ready, you’ll come to our office, throw on a VR headset, and take a walk through your custom dream home.
As you walk through your virtual dream home, our team highlights everything from spacing to color and custom features to prompt your feedback in real-time.

Pre-Construction Phase

Step Three: Sign Contract

You love the plans for your new home so, at this point, you will sign a copy of the construction agreement, specs and the final plans of your home.

Step Four: Approval

After final review of your plans and documents, plans will be submitted to your future HOA, local government agencies and possibly the bank for approval.
The local government must approve the design and provide permits for everything before construction.

Construction Phase

Step Five: Construction

Your plans are brought to life! Your site will be prepared for the construction of the foundation, frame, plumbing/electrical, roof, and more!
Our Team will ensure that the framing, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems are inspected for compliance with building codes before continuing on with the build.

Step Six: Final Walk Through

Your superintendent will walk you through your new home to acquaint you with its features and the operation of various systems and components.
An explanation of your responsibilities for maintenance and upkeep, as well as warranty coverage and procedures will be discussed.
During this time you have the opportunity to spot items that need to be corrected or adjusted.

Step Seven: Interior Design

Initial meeting is scheduled with our in-house interior designer to explore your tastes and create a home that reflects your personal style.
After the designer has created a few concepts, we will arrange a meeting(s) and present different ideas for your new home.
Visit showrooms of vendors, shop online catalogs, all to find the perfect mix of the perfect things for your new home.
The final step in design is to combine it all during the construction process for a seamless finish.

Support Phase

Step Eight: Continued Support

Our team offers reassurance to our homeowners by doing follow-up walk-throughs 120 days after you move in and right before the one year and two year anniversaries of move-in.
Miss something during the final walkthrough? Don’t stress. Your superintendent does one more walk-through after you’ve moved in to ensure everything is covered 100%.
Another follow-up from your superintendent to say congrats! and check to see if any issues have arisen or if everything is running smoothly.
Final follow-up from your superintendent to check the primary home systems – electrical, septic, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
